Summer Pause: Where Our Project Goes From Here

Updated: Jul 6

As you all know, we are on a journey to have enough funding to restore and refurbish our beautiful 200-year-old building, the Town Hall in Bourne.

It was built in 1821 on land given to the townspeople by the Marquis of Exeter and Bourne Town Hall Trust has the aim and vision of keeping it as a community-focused, arts & heritage centre for the benefit of the local community and for the regeneration of Bourne’s high street and town centre area.

We have run a couple of pilot activities, our Fire Heritage Day and Old Town Hall Research Project; we have completed evaluation surveys to gather data on what the public would like to see; and we are busy dotting the i's and crossing the t's as we put together our application to the National Lottery Heritage Fund for the Delivery Phase.

Our aim is to submit our application in August 2024 and await a decision by the end of the year.

In the meantime, we intend to continue fundraising and holding our 'meanwhile' events, as we can. We'll have a break for the summer but we'll back in September with a quiz and a Heritage Open Day along with something more haunting and theatrical for October.

We are actively looking for trustees to help with the project in a hands-on way so please get in touch if you would be interested.
