Summer On Site

Works on site are moving along and from the outside the main change you will start to see is the scaffolding build which has been in place.

The scaffolding contractor will soon be returning to remove the temporary roof, strip out the support towers, and take down some of the bulk of the main scaffold.

By the end of July, the roof was looking 'in the pink' with felt and batten completed across all four main roof pitches.

Some of the work completed is described by Probus Construction’s site manager Leigh Williams below:

  • Raked out and repointed brickwork using traditional hot lime with penny-rolled jointing

  • Raked out stone façade joints and cut out defective areas ahead of new stone inserts

  • All carpentry works completed on the main roof structure

  • Steelwork, containment and ducting installed throughout the main roof space

  • Feature brickwork wall built on the ground floor

  • Steel installation and strengthening works completed to first-floor joists, with old exposed steel removed

  • Courtroom stage extended with allowances for ventilation ducting and speakers

  • Steels installed and opening formed for the new rear staircase, unlocking the new timber joist deck for the 1st and 2nd floors

  • Traditional external lime render applied using washed and chopped horse hair

The first sections of the clocktower have been installed; as the scaffolding is removed, you'll start to see it appear!

Once the scaffolding is clear, Probus Construction will be pushing ahead inside with a busy 4–6 weeks of internal works leading into partitioning and first-fix M&E.
