Our building's story starts with the generosity and benevolence of over 120 individuals in 1820. These subscribers are listed on boards displayed in the building, on the end wall of the Courtroom since 1975.
With our contractors Probus Construction Limited working on the soft strip out of the Old Town Hall, we have been fascinated to see the photos and appreciate the progress.
However the removal of the donor boards, for safe storage, is a special moment.
Through our Town Hall Histories project, we have an active group of heritage research volunteers who are working their way through the list to find and write a story for each and every individual listed.
Along the way, we're finding out so much about the life of Bourne, its citizens, its families, as well as the gentry and nobility who had an interest and owned land here. We have links to all sorts of interesting personalities and celebrities of the age.
The slideshow of photos, mainly taken in the Courtroom, is below.
