Nearly 100 Years Later, Bourne's Skyline Is Restored

When Bourne’s Town Hall was completed in 1821, its clock tower became the crowning feature of a magnificent new landmark in the marketplace. It stood for 112 years until a fire broke out; the building was saved, but the clock tower was lost.

Fast forward 94 years and Bourne's skyline has now been restored.

Maybe you noticed the crane on site in the centre of town today? It was being used by five different suppliers to take elements of the build to the roof, however its first job was to lower the new clock tower into place. Trustees Hilary Bloomer, Charles Houseago, Jane Gabbutt and Nic Willett were there to watch the installation; it was an exhilarating moment to watch and capture!

In time, the new clock face will be installed and once the original Thwaites and Reed clock movement is refurbished and returned to the building, it will run the clock and bell automatically.
